Blarney / Rathpeacon U11s took on Whitechurch this Saturday morning in a hurling friendly in Blarney.   The first half was a most enjoyable match with the boys showing lovely skills going in 1:5 - 0:2 to the good.   It was a beautiful morning for hurling and even after spending the week at Cúl camp the boys set about their game with great spirit.   The second half was played with an alternate rules setup in preparation for the Summer Leagues.   There was no lifting to hand allowed or soloing so it was all about first touch hurling and the boys came out on top again with the only score of a really good tight game.   There is a great bunch of lads on this age group and it is great to see the close bond in the group.   Well done boys and they are mad to learn and hurl which augurs well for the future

Our previous outing was a home game against Youghal in the middle of June were the boys had a busy morning with a double header of football and hurling. After a slow start in the football we got going in the second half but ultimately Youghal proved stronger and won well in the end. The hurling was a lot closer, going in a goal and a point down against a strong breeze. The boys started well in the second half drawing the game, and it was nip and tuck all the way to the end where Youghal took their chances to score a few goals and come out winners again. Youghal have a really strong team and their coach was really complimentary afterwards of how far our lads had progressed since our meeting last year.
