The now annual Kevin Kelleher Memorial Blitz was a resounding success, bringing together athletes, spectators, and the local community in a celebration of sportsmanship and unity. The tournament was impeccably organized, with volunteers and staff working tirelessly to ensure every detail was handled smoothly, reflecting the dedication that Kevin himself brought to his work. The atmosphere was electric, with enthusiastic spectators cheering from the bank, creating a vibrant sense of camaraderie and community spirit.
Travelling clubs from Na Parsaigh (Limerick), Sixmilebridge (Clare) & Ballybacon Grange (Tipperary) all received a warm welcome, thoroughly enjoying their trip to Blarney. The standard of hurling from all clubs was exceptional and showed how Munster aim to keep a monopoly over Liam McCarthy for another few years at least.
Padraig Power, Blarney and Cork Senior hurler, was on hand to present the medals and trophies to all involved. Participants and attendees alike praised the event for its organization, inclusivity, and the positive spirit that permeated every match. The success of the tournament not only honored Kevin Kelleher’s memory but also demonstrated the power of sports to bring people together in celebration and respect. Overall, the tournament was a fitting tribute, capturing the essence of Kevin’s passion for sports and his unwavering dedication to the community.
A massive thank you must go to all our sponsor, without whom the event would not be possible. Both Blarney Woollen Mills and Four Star Pizza made sure that everyone was fed and watered throughout the day.
